Opening Prayer, August 10, 2008

Offered by Amy Staples

Oh trustworthy Father,

We admit that we don’t always exhibit faith in You. We turn to other things and other people to give us a sense of security when all along You are the still quiet whisper that is calling out to us.

You are telling us how much we are loved, and how valuable we are in your eyes, even when the world tells us differently.

God - You love us and you want us to claim our identity as sons and daughters of the King. Show us our worth and beauty and  quiet our hearts God so that we may be firmly planted on Your rock, that is truth.

Give us the strength and the confidence to step out in faith when we are called to move forward and grant us discernment when seeking out guidance and direction in future endeavors. Our faith may be shaky but Your word tells us that if we have faith even just the size of a mustard seed than we can move mountains!

God your ways are awesome and your plans for us are beyond our imagination. You have provided for us in the past and will continue to provide for Your people in the future. You know what we need before we even ask and your eyes are scanning the earth in search of your faithful servants.

May we step out in faith and obedience, and praise you in the midst of uncertainty, trusting that your ways are better than ours could ever be.

Teach us to pray joyfully as Jesus taught us,  “Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever, AMEN.
