Opening Prayer, January 27, 2008

Dear Lord, gracious and wonderful, generous, giver of all that we need, thank you. We worship you God. For you have called together to worship, You have called us to yourself, you have called us to love and to pray, and in your presence we are lifted in grace.
Encouraged by your power we find strength and courage.
Awed by your holiness we offer you our praise.
Who is like you God, who stretched out the heavens, reigned in the earth and spoke everything into being.
Speak to us Lord because we need you, we need to hear you, your words of hope, your assurance and instruction.
And so we seek you with your disciples everywhere, saying, Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed by thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
