A Congregational Prayer, January 13, 2008
Offered by Pastor Mary Scheer
O God, whose love is beyond our imagining, yet present in this very
moment to inspire and refresh our souls. We have come to say thank you
and offer you our praise. You look at us with compassion, with eyes
seeing us loving us, with grace that knowing us offers abundance to meet
our needs. Make us a people who because we are secure in the knowledge
that you provide, are quick to share with those in need. Week by week we
gather to worship you, to be reminded and experience anew your life
freely given. As you fill our hearts and minds with your word this
morning help us to be generous with the good news and hope you offer to
those whose hopes are bound to a community that cares and responds.
Thank you including us as givers and receivers of your grace. We ask your continued blessing on this church. Call this congregation to greater faithfulness in this community that we might have the ability and opportunity to reach beyond what we have dreamed to your vision for our lives and ministry.
We pray for your gracious touch upon all those whose names are in our prayer sheet and in our hearts. We ask you to be with them and heal them. Open our eyes to see how we might serve them as we serve each other in this congregation. Even now may all those we pray for here be lifted by the prayers of your church to hopeful and healing places.
Bind us in your peace and unity that we might increase the strength of our witness and service with one mind and one spirit. Surround us with your love and lead us forward in the journey of caring that never ends, never gives up and calls us to dare to speak our soul's desires to you in prayer. In Jesus name. Amen.
