What are the advantages of Online Giving?

It makes it easy to give, even when you are unable to attend church. You never have to bring cash or checks to church. Giving electronically also helps the church save money and plan its budget!

If we want to help people get out of debt, why does Brewster Baptist accept credit cards?

Many people are moving away from using checks and cash in favor of using debit and credit cards as their primary tools for payments and purchases. Credit cards can be a burden or a blessing. If one pays off a credit card bill in full every month one can earn points to be used for a variety of purposes and have a well organized record of spending which can help us monitor and even change our choices. However, for other people, the inability to pay off credit card debt monthly creates a significant burden. Unless you pay your credit card bill off completely every month, we strongly discourage you from using a credit card for your financial giving to BBC.

How are my contributions automatically deducted from my account?

Once you complete the online registration form, the contribution amount you specify will automatically be transferred from your bank account to the church’s bank account.

When will my contribution be deducted from my account?

Your electronic contribution will be debited on the date you specify on the “My Gifts” page of the Online Giving system.

If I do not write checks, how do I keep my checkbook balance straight?

Since your contribution is made at a pre-established time, you simply record it in your check register on the appropriate date. Electronic contributions are recorded for you on your bank statement as well as your online reports.

Without a canceled check, how can I prove I made my contribution?

Your bank statement and the Online Giving system both provide reports that document your electronic transactions.

How can I view a record of the amount I have contributed, or have scheduled to give?

giving-historyYou can view your online giving record after you’ve logged in, on the Give page.

Just click the SCHEDULES / HISTORY tab.

The page immediately displays your history, and there is a button that will give you a Giving Statement.

Can I put different amounts in offerings and have all of them withdrawn at different times?

You can designate a portion of the total to go to a specific fund (e.g. to One Great Hour of Sharing), and have the balance go to some other fund, but it will all be taken out at once. If you want the withdrawals to happen at different times, the way to do that is to give at different times.

How should I tithe if my income varies from pay period to pay period?

Depending on which is more feasible for your situation, you can handle tithing with a fluctuating income in a couple of different ways. Some people choose to give exactly one-tenth of their earnings for each individual pay-period. Others estimate their total earnings for the year and give a portion of the total tithe each week or month throughout the year.

Should I tithe off my gross earnings or the net amount of my paycheck?

Scripture doesn’t use the literal terms “net” or “gross”. It’s more important to note that the spirit in which we give is of greatest value to God. He tells us in II Corinthians 9 that “each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give; not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Can I post recurring donations to different funds?

Yes. Create the first schedule and then then select “Add Another” to create the schedule for a different fund.

Can I designate my gift to a particular department or ministry?

Every dollar given to the Brewster Baptist general fund is used to support the global mission of BBC; therefore, gifts cannot be designated or restricted for use by a specific department or ministry.
