BLAST is BBC’s ministry for College-Age/20 something members. This group started a few years ago as a small group of former youth group members trying to reconnect with each other and BBC. They have been meeting weekly ever since. Starting in September 2010, they decided on the name BLAST as it defines what they are doing and how they are trying to grow. Here is a little about what they have going now:
Belonging – Every week we plan a meal and have dinner together, alternating between a few host homes. It is a time to connect and be in community together and, through the host families, connect with older members of our congregation.
Learning – Participate in Sunday School and a weekly bible study.
And Serving – BLAST has done some service projects together and is working toward setting up a monthly service project where they can service together.
Together – This College-Age stage of a person’s life is about transitioning from high school to becoming an independent adult. These young people are learning who they are, who they will become, and how that will fit as they enter the workforce and at some point start families. We as members of the Body of Christ must work together to come along side this group to help them discover who they are in the Body of Christ and the life of BBC, so they can take that faith and knowledge with them as they begin their careers and future families.
If you have a heart for keeping our College-Age/20 Something members connected to BBC and each other and would like to join in our rotation of hosting our weekly dinners, please contact Sharon Kautz or BLAST Coordinator Emily Sumner at emily767 AT comcast DOT net.
