Opening Prayer 2/28

Dear Lord, we will rejoice, we will declare, you are our victory and you are here.  Worthy to be worshiped you are strong on behalf of those who are weak, bringing new life out of destruction, hope out of despair, and growth out of difficulty.

Help us to perceive your hand in the unfolding of our lives and to attend to the gentle guidance and inner nudging of your spirit.

Thank you Lord for the eternal truths of faith that have been handed down to us.

Thank you for being patient with us and for helping us again and again even when we have been hardhearted, for redirecting us when we stray and for providing for us in our need.  May our gratitude be your praise and our love bring you joy, our Father…

who art in Heaven, hallowed by thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.

Opening Prayer 1/17/10

Offered by Pastor Mary Scheer

Dear Lord, How fortunate we are to be in this place this morning.

We are so thankful to have this time to come before your presence, to offer you both our praise and our prayers for mercy.

We are so humbled having been reminded again this week that life can change at any moment, that we are not in control, that we are fragile and needy, we seek your help.  We give ourselves to you Lord, may our hearts and minds be focused on you.

Amidst the rubble of loss and destruction, grief and fear, may faith prevail, may the prayers of your people and the offerings of the mornings praises accompany your outpouring of mercy and grace.

May the distraught and dismayed be anchored and comforted in the shelter of your presence.

As for us, may we be your agents of hope and help all the while praising you who promises to be with us at all times, close to those who are hurting and a strong tower to those who call out to you, our Father… who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

Amen

Opening Prayer 12/27/09

Offered by Pastor Mary Scheer

Dear Lord, you have brought us good news with great joy in the birth of our Savior.  He joined us in a world that is sure and steady, filled with your presence from the beginning, your throne was established, from everlasting your words of hope and promise that draw us ever closer to you.

We come seeking this new day, more knowledge of you, more confidence in our faith and help in following and serving you.

May the words we share, the prayers we pray and the songs we offer proclaim your praise and ascend through the heavens as we worship.

For unto us a child was born, and we have come to worship him and give glory to you, Our Father…who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.

Opening Prayer and Lord’s Prayer 11/22/09

Offered by Pastor Mary Scheer

Dear Lord, who surrounds us with compassion and favor, hear our songs of love and words of praise.

We bless you God and lift up your holy name.

We sing for joy at the thought of your glory and power of your presence.

You have made your face to shine on us and showered us with grace.

You have been with us and walked through our days with us.

Thank you God for your hand that holds us, for your word that encourages us, and for your grace that saves us.

Blessed be your name, holy God our father and Jesus who encouraged us to pray… Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

Amen.

Congregational Prayer 11/15/09

Offered by Pastor Mary Scheer

Dear Lord, we know that we need you, we know there is no true wisdom, or peace or provision apart from you that is worth seeking.

Thank you for today, for the chance that today offers, to know you better, to
see your hand, to experience your grace and to ask for your help.

Like the psalmist, each of us here has our own issues, things that we’re waiting for, although I think for some of us, the whole souls waiting in silence thing may be a struggle as silence is drowned out by the endless battering of doubt and fear reminding us of all of our problems and all that can go wrong.

And yet we know the salvation we hope for will come from you.  While our faith says we will not be shaken, some of us feel shaken, fragile like the leaning wall or tottering fence, unable to withstand any more pressure.

We pray for your strength that you would be that strong fortress around us, that you will shore up the ground as solid rock beneath our feet.

We pray for deliverance for ourselves and those we love, we pray for the person sitting next to us in the pew, for our neighbors and co workers and all
around the world who look to you for relief.

We pray for deliverance from sickness and pain, deliverance from heartache and loneliness, deliverance from confusion, conflict and fear and all the
things that leave us weak and wobbly.

Help us to trust in you at all times, to set our hearts on you and live out of a place of confidence in you, so we can be refreshed and energized as we wait for you, for your power and your salvation.

In Jesus name,

Amen.
