ONLY THREE WEEKS LEFT…
to sort through and set aside the clothing and household items you want to donate to the Women’s Fellowship Annual Rummage Sale. The date is May 31—but you can bring your donations to church beginning May 26. Good, gently used and clean clothing for all seasons is needed, but there will also be space for household items, kitchenware, and decorative accessories as well as books, jewelry and unfinished craft items. There will also be a table of home-made goodies for which our BBC bakers are justly famous. Please—no electronics (computers, etc.), large items or furniture—nothing that would otherwise be designated for the landfill. Call the church office, 508-896-3381, if you have questions or can help on the day of the sale.
NAUSET REGION FISH
NAUSET REGION FISH provides free transportation to medical appointments to residents of Brewster, Eastham, Orleans, and Wellfleet, who do not have means of transportation. Drivers and telephone volunteers are needed. Drivers use their own cars, are covered by insurance, and drive no farther than Hyannis. Telephone dispatchers, serving from home, receive requests through an answering service and contact drivers from a provided list. Drivers and dispatchers choose the day or days of the month on which to serve. Contact: Erin at 800-244-4630, Ext. 177. Summer residents are welcome.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
THE BREWSTER PROJECT on Burr Road is nearing completion. Three of the dwellings are expected to be completed by the end of May. The fourth dwelling, a “Women’s Build,” was hopefully started on May 2. The dedication and celebration of the completion of the first three dwellings will be held at the site on Sunday, June 1, at 2:00 p.m. BBC will supply the refreshments. If you have any questions on the status or if you would like to volunteer to bake, please contact the church office, 508-896-3381.
THE BABY CENTER NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT
The Women’s Fellowship’s annual shower for A Baby Center will take place at the spring luncheon on May 14. Boxes have been placed in the entry ways to make it easy for you to leave a donation. Families with children up to three years old who meet the financial guidelines of the federal WIC program may receive services. There is great need on the Cape! Opened three years ago, the Center expected to serve 100 babies a year; 100 babies were served in the first month!
Mary Pat Piersons, Center Director, who will be a guest at the luncheon, says that while the Center needs everything a young baby might require––from knitted blankets, sweaters, bottles, cans of formula, powder and creams—disposable diapers are the greatest need.
Here’s your chance to help the youngest Cape Codders. Please join the Women’s Fellowship in making a difference in their lives.
YES, VIRGINIA, THERE WILL BE A CHRISTMAS FAIR!
SANTA HAS CONFIRMED IT! There will be a Christmas Fair this year—the old-fashioned kind of church fair with handmade crafts, home-baked goodies, gift baskets, knit goods and needlework, tree ornaments and stuffed toys. Saturday, November 8, is the date, so it’s time to start planning which one of your talents will be the source of a unique and clever donation to the Christmas Fair. Watch this space for more details as the date draws near, or ask the church office, 508-896-3381, for more information.
OTHER LOAVES AND FISHES
