ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL
ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL—those are the kinds of “things” needed for the Craft Table at the Holiday Fair. We are looking for every good idea—aprons and bird houses, placemats and potholders, trivets and toys. November may seem afar—but ars longa, tempus fugit. No time like the present! You’ve got the talent; let it shine!
But if handicrafts are not your forte, despair not! Turn your attention to the Silent Auction which will be an important part of the Holiday Fair. Now there’s a place to donate enticing items such as a weekend getaway, fine art, tickets to a sports event—or practical and indispensible things like tools, car care, or an appointment at a beauty salon. Put your thinking cap on and come up with something really special.
CALLED OUT QUARTET
BBC HAS BEEN BLESSED to host Called Out Quartet (CO4) from Tennessee in 2008 and 2009, and we are delighted that they will be returning to BBC on Saturday, August 28, at 7:00 p.m. The group will also sing at each morning service on August 29. For those who aren’t as familiar with Southern Gospel, on their website it is described as, “real music touching real people. There is no deeper tradition in Southern Gospel than the all-male quartet, and it’s in that tradition that Called Out Quartet sings today. Formed in 2002, Called Out Quartet is quickly becoming one of Southern Gospel’s favorite quartets as they mix tried and true hymns with the new songs of today that still have that same old message of Christ and Him crucified. Through testimony in song, CO4 sets out week after week to reach the lost with God’s beautiful message of redemption and to encourage and lift up His children.”
WANTED
WANTED: DRIED MONEY PLANTS (also known as Silver Dollar plants) to sell at the Holiday Fair. They are very popular and sell well when tied in bunches. Please pick and bring to BBC in a large plastic bag on Sunday or during the week. Dried hydrangeas are also still needed. Questions? Contact Janet Bantly.
HELP!! FOR THE HOMELESS PREVENTION COUNCIL
YOU MAY HAVE READ in the August 9 edition of the Cape Cod Times that the Homeless Prevention Council is in serious trouble because they have lost state funds this month. The state suggests that they need to rely on private donations. How can you help? Our church has been part of a program that sells gift cards for grocery stores. You buy the gift card at face value ($100, $50, $25) and get full value at the store when you use it. But the Homeless Prevention Council gets 3–5% of the face value. These cards can be bought from the office after church with a check made out to “Homeless Prevention Council” or with cash (please have the exact amount).
RENTAL NEED
IF ANYONE IN THE CONGREGATION has some kind of rental available—a room, an apartment or a condo—please call Pastor Mary at the church office (508-896-3381).
