LOOKING FOR A HOME?

WE AT BBC INVITE YOU to consider making us your spiritual home.  To learn more about who we are and to explore joining us as a member, Pastor Doug and Pastor Mary will be presenting classes as listed below.

February 28, 1:00 p.m.

This will be an initial orientation by Pastor Doug talking about what we believe as American Baptists and the mission of BBC.

March 7, 9:45 a.m.

New member classes begin.  Pastor Mary will help you explore your Christian journey—past, present and future.  Discussions are informal.

May 9, 9:45 a.m.

This will be the last new member class.  We hope we will have answered your questions about BBC and our Christian family, and that you will feel ready to become a member.  If you do not feel ready to commit, that is okay, too.

May 16—Baptism

This will be for new members who have never been baptized in Christ or for those who have been baptized but feel they want to recommit as a more informed believer; baptism will be available at both Sunday services.

May 23—Welcome New Members!

New members will be introduced to the congregation at both services.

USED ORTHOPEDIC EQUIPMENT FOR HAITI

IT IS ESTIMATED THAT in Haiti 20,000 people of all ages had to have limbs amputated in the wake of the earthquake.  There is great need for orthopedic equipment.  Avon Baptist Church has organized The Haiti Project to collect used crutches, walkers, canes, wheelchairs, braces, and prostheses that are in clean and usable condition.  Pediatric sizes are especially needed, but all sizes will be put to use.  These will be shipped to St. Damien’s Hospital at the end of March.  Check your attics, basements, garages, storage units, etc. for things you had intended to give to a good cause but didn’t get around to.  Now is the time.  Bring them to the church by Thursday, March 4, (they may be left in Pastor Kevin’s former office), and they will be dropped off at the Missionworks Conference.

MEN’S MINISTRY

THE BBC MEN’S MINISTRY WILL HOLD their next meeting on Saturday, March 13, in Fellowship Hall.  Breakfast will be served at 8:00 a.m., followed by a presentation by Chaplain Dave Robbins of the Barnstable House of Correction in Bourne.  Dave, a former prisoner, will bring two former inmates with him who will share their life-changing experiences with us.  Chaplain Robbins is affiliated with Good News Prison Ministries, which is part of BBC’s Missions Ministry.  Sign up at the Welcome Center or contact Bill Carter.

CHURCH WOMEN UNITED

THE WORLD DAY OF PRAYER SERVICE, written by the women of Cameroon, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5, at Our Lady of the Cape, in Brewster.  Save the date!  We will be joined by women from Eastham and Orleans churches and by others from our Brewster community.

EIGHT-WEEK BEREAVEMENT GROUP

LIFE CHOICE HOSPICE, formerly Charles Bank Hospice Care, is offering an eight-week bereavement support group, free and open to the community.  The meetings will be held at the EPOCH Assisted Living at Brewster Place, 855 Harwich Road in Brewster, from 10:30 a.m. till noon on eight consecutive Mondays starting March 15, and ending May 3.  Meetings will be co-facilitated by BBC’s Rev. Dr. Lee Vermont and Kathy Clouther, MSW, LCSW.  For any questions or additional information on the Life Choice Hospice Bereavement Support Group, please contact Kathy Clouther, hospice social worker, at 508-432-0748.
